What is the type of cuisine served?

We offer authentic, home-fresh meals. We offer Indian and limited Continental and Asian cuisine. Our Care Team rep will help you craft the perfect combination once you have booked your stay. Please do share your meal preferences and dietary requirements, if any, when the team reaches out to you.

Is outside food allowed? Are we allowed to cook ourselves?

Outside food is not allowed in the villa. Guests are not allowed to access the kitchen. With Prior notification, guests can request the chef to prepare customized meals for infants.

Do you allow us to stock things in your fridge?

Yes, you can use the fridge to store food/beverages.

Is there an aquaguard for drinking water supply? Do we need to carry our own Mineral Water bottles or are these readily available at your villa?

Yes, we have a steady supply of filtered drinking water.

Is Alcohol allowed? Are there any corkage charges?

Yes, alcohol consumption is permitted within limits. There are no corkage charges.

Is smoking / alcohol consumption permitted?

Smoking is strictly not permitted inside the house and on the veranda. Smoking is permitted in the designated area in the garden only. Please use the ashtrays when smoking. Smoking out of the windows is strictly prohibited. Alcohol consumption is permitted within limits. We do not encourage late-night revelry or loud music.

What are the Check-in & Check-out timings? May I request for late check-outs or an early check-in?

Check-in time at 1 pm and check-out time is 10 am. Please note that check-out timings are strict as we need to ready the rooms for our next booking. Guests are requested to respect the timing of other guests as well. In case you wish to check in a little early or check out a little late, do inform us at the time of booking. Additional charges will be applied.

What formalities are needed during check-in and check-out?

As required by law, all adults have to provide their government-approved Photo IDs (that clearly show their residential address) at the time of Check-in. Your co-operation is of utmost importance to us.

Are we allowed to access all areas?

If you book the whole bungalow, you have access to both the bungalows. However, if you choose SaffronStays Dunnottar North by Kodai Lake and SaffronStays Dunnottar South by Kodai Lake, you have access only to the bungalow you booked. All outdoor areas are common and accessible to everyone.

How do we reach your villa by public transport?

The best way to reach our home is by a private car/ taxi. If you would like to travel by public transport, the best route would be: Bus: State Transport buses Train: The nearest railway stations are Kodai Road (2 hours), Dindigul (2.5 hours) and Madurai (3 hours) Air: The closest airports to the villa are Madurai(3 hours), Trichy (4 hours) and Coimbatore (5 hours)

Are stag groups allowed to book this home?

No. We do not allow stag groups to book this home.

What is the cancellation policy?

If the Guest cancels the booking anywhere before 21 days before the check-in date, they are entitled to a 100% refund. If the Guest cancels the booking anywhere between 21-11 days before the check-in date, they are entitled to a 50% refund. For any cancellations made after 11 days to the check-in date, there would be no refund. If the Guest has made a partial payment, he/ she is not entitled to any refund whatsoever. All cancellation policies are overridden if a guest uses the “NOCANCEL” coupon while booking. The guest is not entitled to any refund and will have to pay a 100% rescheduling fee in the event of the same. Cancellations for peak dates such as Independence Day (15th Aug), Diwali (29th Oct to 10th Nov), Christmas and New Year (24th Dec to 2nd Jan), and Republic Day (26th Jan) will not be accepted. A nominal 2.75% convenience fee would be deducted from the refund amount for processing of the cancellation

Can I pay 50% now and pay the remaining 50% closer to the date?

Unfortunately, there is no option for part payment. Guests are required to pay 100% of the payment before check-in.

How can I make a payment?

Once you have chosen your dates and your booking has been accepted, you will receive a payment link where the payment can be processed. In case you're unable to make an online payment through the link, you could also deposit the cash in our bank account directly. We also offer other options like PayTM, NEFT/IMPS or UPI.

How and when do I pay for the Security Deposit and how and when is it returned to me?

Security deposit is to be paid two days prior to check-in. If no damages are observed, the deposit will be returned during check-out itself or by NEFT within 5 business days after check-out.

Can I redeem any offers while booking this home?

Yes. Members can redeem their nights, utilise their privileges and avail any offers while booking this home.

Does SaffronStays accept cash payments?

No. All payments for booking the villa, including meals, will have to be pre-paid prior to check-in. Security Deposit collected during booking will be returned during check-out or by NEFT within 5 business days after check-out, provided no damages are observed. To avoid inconvenience, we will not be accepting cash onsite for any reasons henceforth. Please note: The Security Deposit is subject to change depending upon the number of nights and the group size. Please check with your holiday advisor at the time of booking.

How many extra mattresses can be provided?

Rooms with sofa beds only can accommodate an additional guest. No other extra mattress will be provided. Our home has adequate bed sheets, blankets and pillows for extra bedding.

What type of beds, mattresses do you have?

Suite Room and Master Bedroom have king-sized beds.

Do you provide toiletries and bath towels?

Yes, we provide toiletries like hand wash, shower gel, shampoo, body lotion and towels.

Is there Internet/ 4G/ WiFi connection available onsite?

Yes, the villa has WiFi connection. There is adequate network connectivity, if not 4G then 3G.

Does the villa face frequent power outages? Are there any invertors or gensets to address this issue?

Yes, we have a backup inverter and genset in case of rare occasions of power failure.

Do you have a problem with mosquitoes? How do you deal with it to make our stay more comfortable?

All rooms have mosquito repellents. Guests are advised to shut the windows between 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm to avoid mosquitoes and insects from entering the home.

Is there a security guard / watchman?

Yes. The home is located within a gated complex.

Are the premises monitored using CCTVs?

Yes, there are CCTV cameras installed in the outdoor premises of the villa.

Is there First-aid kit available at your Home?

Yes, we do have a first-aid kid on-site, stocked with Dettol, band-aids and over-the-counter medicines like paracetamol.

Is the property properly fenced? Is there a boundary wall?

Yes, the home is located within the gated complex and properly fenced.

Kodaikanal is well connected by road from different cities and towns. There are different ways to approach Kodaikanal depending on where you are coming from and how you choose to travel, but the last 60 km climb up the mountain has to be done by car. You will also get the navigation link to the villa once your booking is confirmed. If you are doing part of your journey by Air or Train - WE CAN ARRANGE FOR A TAXI TO PICK YOU UP FROM THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: Kodai Road Junction, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, and Dindigul. Distances are calculated with the Kodaikanal Lake as the central point of reference.

Yes, our home is child friendly. There is plenty of space to run around and many indoor activities that will keep your children occupied. The home is well-stocked with board games. There is also a basic first-aid kit, stocked with Dettol, band-aids, etc., for minor injuries. Parents are advised to be cautious when allowing kids to run around.

The bonfire area near SaffronStays Dunnottar North By Kodai Lake has a hammock put out on a clear day where one can stretch out in the shade and relax with no agenda. In the bungalow, one can discover a favourite author amidst the large selection covering all age groups and genres in the walk-through library. The villa’s location is only a 10-minute walk to Bryant Park and Seven Roads Junction with its myriad of boutiques, restaurants and shops. As you step outside the gate, walk, run or jump on in-house cycles and ride around the lake to take in the cool air and the mesmerizing beauty of nature as it awakens your spirit. Curated local experiences such as hiking and picnics can be arranged at an additional cost upon prior request.

Yes, The home is set right on the meandering Kodai Lake. Also, the boat house is short distance away where you can hire boats and row around the lake.
