A different world within… Drove to Kodai from Chennai. The roads inside the Kodai town are too narrow and battered. The town is too crowded and commercialized for a hill station to feel relaxed. The entrance to the property is from a narrow lane. But the moment we enter inside, it’s a different world altogether. It’s an old English Bungalow converted into a resort housing 6 rooms with separate common dinning and entertainment space. There is also in house kitchen and they serve hot, delicious homely food. They have a game room with a TT table and carom board and an outdoor badminton court. There is a lovely lawn surrounded by colorful flowers. The garden extends around the bungalow. The rooms are pretty small but compact and good enough for an family of 3. It was neat, tidy and clean. The staffs were courteous and prompt in service. Once inside you do not feel the chaotic town outside and we had a relaxing peaceful pleasurable stay....read more
It was our first venture to choose a place other than the traditional hotel. Initially the idea was a little away and made us quiet apprehensive about the stay at such a place that was never experienced before. Moreover stay at such places require a lot of courage to overcome fear regarding basic amenities and quality of food. But on our arrivals we found things to be absolutely different. The very first response from the staff was exhilarating. Their humbleness and courtesy touched our hearts The serenity of the place was the second thing that jostled our minds and captured everything we has. The staff provided all the hospitality required for such professional industry. Food was amazing and the service was passionately done The stay at KURUNJI ESTATE was undoubtedly a memorable one. ...read more
We were a family of 8 and stayed here for 4 nights. A very memorable vacation for all of us. Everything about the place is quaint and tranquil -- property, rooms, interiors and location. It has a well spread out lawn with beautiful flowers. The campus is huge and has its own personal trail and a nice lotus pond (with an interesting "haunted" history as well ). You can spend your entire day lazing within the property, exploring its nooks and still not get bored. The special touch to the stay is added by the caretaker Mr. Natarajan and his wife. They are delightful hosts who take personal care of each and every guest. Mrs. Natarajan is an amazing cook and dishes out a lip smacking variety of food of all cuisines, including North Indian. We had at least 6 meals plus breakfast -- and every single food item was very tasty!!! It was my father's birthday and also my brother's anniversary-- Mrs. Natarajan put together a very special spread for us and made the evening doubly en...read more
The cottage is right out of the British Era. A beautifully maintained Garden greets you and you know that you have not gone wrong is selecting a perfect place for your vacation. We were greeted by Natarajan who is the caretaker and he ensured we were made comfortable right thru our stay at the cottage. Jacqueline his wife served us some great food and bites right thru our stay. The cottage is about 3 kms from the lake and you can get taxis to take you there if you wish to do. We plan to go back with a larger group soon....read more
Celebrated my birthday at this beautiful property. Since we checked in on a Sunday (when most guests check out, owning to starting work on mondays), we had the entire place to ourselves. We spent the entire day lazing around on the garden, gorging on yummy food made by Jacqueline(caretaker's wife), watching movies. I would recommend you stay atleast a day here to unwind, after the tedious sight seeing. Recommend this to anyone who wants to unwind and stay away from the hustle and bustle of the season!...read more
Stayed in this home stay for 2 days and enjoyed every minute ...The big advantage we had was that we had the resort to ourselves which made it extra special and we could make ourselves at home in every part of the resort Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the property..But at the same time was not too far away from the main town Mr. & Mrs. Natarajan, the caretakers deserve special mention ...Our requirements were met out immediately by them and the other staff. The food was delicious and served in style.. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and maintained well This is definitely a resort to check out on especially for people who know how Kodaikanal was more than 30 years ago and who want to relive those moments The garden around the resort is maintained very nicely and the flowering plants and collections of plants were a treat to the eyes....read more
